This sculpture was inspired by rhizomatic roots I saw, stretching their growth into different directions. In nature, I find an abstract universe of things similiarly reaching out to humans, reflecting the human form back to us. I try to highlight this world of relationships in the work, honing the natural material until it resounds in its most Laconic form. In creating the texture for this piece, I chose a weathered, aging technique as a reminder of nature's ancient and eternal presence, to be carefully observed by a human audience.
